Snow-capped and sentinel, Africa's tallest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, casts its shadow across Tanzania, a land well-placed to embrace eco tourism, with one of the most extensive national park systems in East Africa. Tanzania shares its border to the north with Kenya and is home to more than 120 ethnic groups. Eco initiatives in both countries largely come from private lodges and small-scale safari operators. As well as conserving the wildlife that draws overseas visitors, they are committed to protecting Kenya and Tanzania's multicultural heritage.
